Last updated: 28 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use MyBillsApp. We are committed to handling your information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. What We Collect

  • Account information: your name, email address, and login details.
  • Bills and statements you upload or forward: documents (PDFs, images, emails) you upload directly or forward to your unique MyBillsApp email address, and the financial data extracted from them — payee names, amounts, due dates, line items, GST, account numbers printed on bills, and similar billing details.
  • Bank transaction data: when you upload a bank or credit card statement, we extract and store the transaction details shown on that statement (dates, descriptions, amounts). We do not collect or store your online banking login credentials, and we do not connect directly to your bank account — all data comes from documents you choose to upload.
  • Categorisation and preferences: how you categorise bills and transactions, notes you add, and settings you choose.
  • Support communications: information you provide when contacting support@mybillsapp.com.au.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Extract, organise, and display your bills and transactions.
  • Match bank payments to bills you've entered.
  • Generate reports and summaries of your spending.
  • Respond to support requests.
  • Improve the accuracy of our bill-reading and categorisation features.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use your financial data for advertising purposes.

3. How We Store and Process Your Information

MyBillsApp is built and hosted on the Base44 platform. Your data, including uploaded documents and extracted financial information, is stored on Base44's infrastructure. Some data extraction (reading and interpreting bills and statements) is performed using AI-based document processing services integrated with Base44.

Emails you forward to your MyBillsApp email address are processed via our email service provider to detect and extract attached bills and statements.

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. As part of this, all users are required to set a PIN (4 or 6 digits, your choice) to access their account, adding a layer of protection for your financial information beyond your login credentials. The app automatically re-locks after a period of inactivity, or immediately if you switch away from it, so your data isn't left accessible if you step away from your device. If you forget your PIN, you can reset it yourself through a verification code sent to your registered email — we do not store your PIN in a form that is readable by us or by anyone else. However, no online service can guarantee complete security, and we cannot promise that unauthorised access will never occur.

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not share your personal or financial information with third parties except:

  • With service providers who help us operate MyBillsApp (such as hosting and document-processing infrastructure), solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.
  • If required by law, or to protect our legal rights.

5. Your Rights

You may:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Ask us questions about how your information is handled.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us atsupport@mybillsapp.com.au.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account or request deletion, we will remove your personal information within a reasonable timeframe, except where we are required to retain certain records by law.

7. Children's Privacy

MyBillsApp is not intended for use by children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page with an updated "last updated" date.
